HBR Supply Chain Risk Management 2011

We have the pleasure to announce that Procurence will be a partner of Harvard Business Review Poland during the conference on a very up-to-date issue of supply chain risk management. In the world of lean manufacturing, just-in-time deliveries, outsourcing and globalisation supply risk plays an unprecedented role.

With 60-80% of your expenses and components, materials and services purchased from external contractors managing your risks pro-actively, rather than trying to come up with a solution once a problem occurred, can decide your company’s fate. Ever wondered what made Ericsson, company that once pondered taking over the whole of Nokia, fall so much behind its rival? In 2000 a fire broke out at factory of their common supplier. Nokia had business contingency plans in place – it switched to alternative suppliers and altered its designs to use different components. Ericsson had no response prepared whatsoever, hence their actions were much delayed and uncoordinated. By the end of the year Nokia did not feel the impact of the fire at all, while Ericsson lost $400m and 3% of global market share that it never regained and eventually was forced to merge its mobile department with Sony.

It is clear which path your company wants to follow, but do you know how to do it? The aim of the conference is to provide information on latest world trends and best practices in supply chain risk management, finding and monitoring sources of risks in the supply chain, establishing successful SCRM organisation and supply chain transparency.

The conference will end with a workshop on establishing and managing internal supply chain risk management organisation, providing vital information for CEO/CFO/CPO on the process.

Procurence at the Supply Chain Risk Management Seminar in Barcelona

Matt Zaleski and Prof. Dr. Michael Henke from Procurence were speakers at  the 2nd Supply Chain Risk Management Seminar in Barcelona. Our topic was TRANSPARENCY OF SUPPLY NETWORKS AS A BASIS FOR PRO- ACTIVE RISK MANAGEMENT. Below you will find a synopsis of our  presentation.

Couple of days after the recent earthquake in Chile, Whole Foods Co., one of  the top US grocery chains, released the following statement on Facebook:  "We're anticipating a significant shortage of Chilean grapes within the next 10  days. We expect the shortage to extend through early April." Would your  company be able to release such a statement in a similar situation?
The most sophisticated risk management strategies will not help if your supply  chain is an equivalent of a big black box. Yet, companies that wish to throw  some light on their supply network face a number of problems, both  organisational and technical. Our presentation addressed both these problems  and the possible benefits, as well as povided hints on how to ensure a  successful implementation of supply risk management systems. The seminar ended with an overview of future trends concerning supply chain transparency,  based on the latest academic research and consulting experience with top  European companies.

We are happy to report that our presentation during Supply Chain Risk Management Seminar in Barcelona received very positive reception. Here is some of the feedback we received:
